United for Sport

Portugal, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Greece joined together to bring to life “Sports4Life: Non- Formal Toolkit for Grassroots”, a project that aims at training youth workers in the field of grassroots sports. This Small Collaborative Partnership was funded in 2018 under the Erasmus+ Sport program, a European youth mobility support program, managed by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).

During one year, the project’s partners will work closely with young people who work with children to promote health consciousness and the importance of practicing sports from an early age. To reach its goal, the project will include a partnership with Associação de Jovens da Fonte Bastardo (AJFB), a Portuguese sports club that hosts hundreds of athletes from the age of 6 and houses dozens of teams in grassroots sports, such as volleyball and futsal. The project will also include an online questionnaire, an Anticipated Planning Visit (APV) and an intensive Training Course (TC), with the participation of 25 young coaches and sports workers.

As a result, the partners will create and publish a toolkit with non-formal techniques designed specifically for young trainers working with school-age athletes. The project coordinator is AJITER - Youth Association of Terceira Island, a non-profit organization from Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal. Asociacija Aktyvus Jaunimas from Lithuania, Champions Factory from Bulgaria, and Solidarity Tracks from Greece will also be partners in the project “Sports4Life”.
