AJITER in Greece for ‘Green Youth’ project partners meeting

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, 14 and 15 May, AJITER - Associação Juvenil da Ilha Terceira was in Larissa, Greece, for another face-to-face meeting of the various international partners of the Erasmus+ project ‘Green Youth - Educational materials for environmental sustainability’, for what was the last face-to-face working meeting of this cooperation partnership in the youth field that it is coordinating, a meeting which was hosted by the Greek partner iED - Instituto de Empreendedorismo e Desenvolvimento (Institute of Entrepreneurship and Development).

The international consortium of this partnership is made up of iED from Greece, YES from Italy, EURASIA from Turkey, VAEV from Austria and AJITER as the Portuguese representative.

Together, the aim of this project is to train young people between the ages of 14 and 18, as well as technicians and youth workers, association leaders, multipliers and even local political decision-makers, using digital tools and content that will enable them to become more aware of protection issues and contribute to safeguarding and sustaining the environment, considering the immense challenges facing our communities, namely climate change, global warming and the various types of pollution and other environmental aggressions.

In fact, in quantitative terms, the project will provide three fundamental products: as a first result, a Digital Toolkit with 8 teaching modules for young people in Environmental Education; as a second result, ‘GREEN OER’, i.e. a digital platform for online ‘e-learning’ training on the same topic and, finally, a Mobile APP containing video resources designed to encourage better environmental habits and practices.

The contents of this project are intended to directly benefit around 2,000 people.

At this last face-to-face working meeting, the partners had the opportunity to assess the quality of the work already done, validate the implementation of the objectives and metrics defined for the project and plan the final stage, which involves launching, multiplying and disseminating the results, as well as starting the preparatory work for the final report to be submitted to the Portuguese National Agency of the Erasmus+ Youth in Action Project.

In the intercultural and social dimension, the participants had the opportunity to get to know some of the natural landscapes, history, culture and gastronomy of Greece and the city of Larissa.

The results of this important project, which aims to contribute to sustainability and environmental protection, will soon be released and publicised.
