Parish of São Bento congratulates AJITER
The Parish Assembly of São Bento, at the proposal of the respective Parish Council, distinguished AJITER - Youth Association of Terceira Island with a ‘Vote of Congratulation’ on the occasion of the 2025 edition of the respective ‘Parish Day’ as a form of appreciation for its activity, which highlights the text of the proposal ‘it is a non-profit youth organisation that works to strengthen youth associations, promoting social inclusion, the active participation of young people and the development of their personal, social and professional skills’, also highlighting the fact that this organisation develops local and international projects in Europe.
It should be noted that the Parish of São Bento is an important partner in the work and existence of AJITER – Associação Juvenil da Ilha Terceira (Terceira Island Youth Association), as it is in this parish, located in the vicinity of the city centre of the World Heritage City of Angra do Heroísmo, that AJITER's headquarters are located, in premises owned by the parish.
AJITER is approaching its quarter-century anniversary, having been founded on 14 April 2003. Since then, it has carried out extensive work, as already mentioned, and is also noteworthy for being a Public Utility Institution, classified as an ONGA – Non-Governmental Environmental Organisation, running the UNESCO Information Centre ‘Jovem Ínsula’ and also being one of the European organisations that is part of the ‘EURODESK’ information network.
On the occasion of ‘Parish Day 2025’, AJITER also congratulates the Parish and its bodies for their dynamism in supporting and improving the living conditions of the population.
