Training in AI Tools for Working with Young People in Bulgaria
Between 1 and 9 November, as part of the Erasmus+ mobility and learning programme, training in AI (artificial intelligence) tools for professionals working with young people took place in the city of Bansko, Bulgaria.
The training course, entitled ‘AI Toolbox for Youth Workers – Shaping the Future of Non-Profits’, was attended by three young people from Terceira, selected by AJITER – Associação Juvenil da Ilha Terceira (Terceira Island Youth Association), brought together professionals working with young people and educators from Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, Italy, Latvia and Portugal to explore one of today's most exciting topics: how Artificial Intelligence can support creativity, communication and learning in the youth sector.
During nine inspiring days, Rodrigo Sousa, Eduardo Silva and Andreia Sales joined the other participants and immersed themselves in a mix of practical workshops, practical sessions and creative challenges. They tried out dozens of AI tools to create social media campaigns, visual identities, websites and learning materials — all while discussing ethics, inclusion and the responsible use of technology.
As one of the main outcomes of the project, participants helped create the ‘AI Toolbox for Youth Workers’ — a practical guide to the most useful and easy-to-use AI tools for communication, content creation and learning in the youth sector.
This guide is available online and translated into all partner languages — Bulgarian, Turkish, Romanian, Italian, Latvian, and Portuguese — to make it accessible to youth workers and organisations across Europe.
This project demonstrated that AI is not just about technology, but also about the important relationship between people, ideas, and creativity.
Since 2012, AJITER — Associação Juvenil da Ilha Terceira (Terceira Island Youth Association) has been strongly committed to promoting the Erasmus+ programme on Terceira Island and in the Azores in general, offering young people this type of mobility experience with learning objectives.
In addition, AJITER is also part of the European network ‘EURODESK’, providing information and opportunities for young people in these areas at its premises. As it has done for over 20 years, it will continue to develop these efforts.
