Products from the ‘Green Youth’ project presented to young people at the ‘Environment Fair’

The first results of the Erasmus+ project ‘Green Youth - Educational materials for environmental sustainability’ were presented to young people as part of the ‘VI Praia da Vitória Environment Fair’, which took place in the city between last Tuesday and Thursday, 4 and 6 June - at which AJITER - Associação Juvenil da Ilha Terceira had a stand - following the work of the cooperation partnership in the youth field that it has been coordinating.

Thus, this project offers three fundamental products: firstly, a Digital Toolkit with 8 teaching modules for young people in Environmental Education; secondly, ‘GREEN OER’, i.e. a digital platform for online ‘e-learning’ training on the same subject; and finally, a Mobile APP containing video resources designed to encourage better environmental habits and practices.

The aim of this project is to train young people between the ages of 14 and 18, as well as youth workers, association leaders, multipliers and even local political decision-makers, using digital tools and content that will enable them to become more aware of protection issues and contribute to safeguarding and sustaining the environment, taking into account the immense challenges facing our communities, namely climate change, global warming and various types of pollution and other environmental aggressions.

The international consortium of this partnership is made up of iED from Greece, YES from Italy, EURASIA from Turkey, VAEV from Austria and AJITER as the Portuguese representative, and is co-funded under Key Action 2 of the Erasmus+ European mobility and learning programme through the Erasmus+ Youth/Sport National Agency and the European Solidarity Corps.

The presence of the city council in this initiative was justified by the obvious convergence of objectives between it and the aforementioned project, which presented itself as an excellent opportunity to multiply the results and disseminate them. In total, it was possible to reach around 1,000 young people.
