COASTALPRO Project's first products nearing completion
The second meeting of partners of the “COSTALPRO” project took place this Thursday, September 19, in Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands. The project focuses on training and skills development based on opportunities for tourism development associated with coastal areas, and on issues such as concerns associated with their sustainable exploitation and the sector's prospects for development.
This meeting, hosted by the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster (CMC) – a partner entity in this project – and which marked the beginning of the second year of development of the project, assessed the achievement of the objectives set for the project and analyzed the work already carried out with a view to launching the main product in October, a training course in a playable environment aimed – in this first phase – at young students.
Funded by the European Commission under the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF-2023-BlueCareers), the main objectives of the project include the creation of state-of-the-art learning tools, the provision of training and support courses of the highest quality, as well as the development of an innovative skills framework on coastal tourism.
The consortium promoting the project is made up of several entities in the academic, business and association sectors, and is coordinated by Surf Club Keros, which is an example of a project to boost the coastal economy by bringing together a product that includes diverse training in water sports as well as hotel services.
AJITER is one of the partner entities of the consortium and was represented at this meeting by its President, Décio Santos.
